My answer: Stories often attempt to counter stereotypes by showing readers the negative influence that stereotypes can have on people's mental health, relationships, and society. For example, stereotypes about a certain group of people can cause them to be marginalized and regress from equality. Nevertheless, some stories that tend to be from older times can reflect the stereotypes of the authors. This can lead to criticism, but can also make modern young readers whose worldviews have not formed yet more prejudiced. These stories need to be taught properly to young readers to make them realize the negative effects of stereotypes instead of being influenced.
